Introducing the Christian Council of Britain

The Christian Council of Britain is about Christianity, pure and simple: the Christianity of the Holy Bible of the Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New Testament, which is what all of the denominations of Christendom, have in common. We rejoice in this our common Christian faith and heritage, which has made us so much, as individuals and as a Nation, into what we are. But all of this is now greatly under threat, as has been acknowledged recently, for example, by the Pakistani-born Right Revd Michael Nazir-Ali, until recently, Bishop of Rochester. He is in a position, particularly, to know the benefits of being in a Christian country, having come from one that wasn’t!

It is often not appreciated just how important Christianity is to the kind of society we live in; a society which would be much worse for its decline or disappearance.

The current attacks on Bible-based Christianity come from a number of directions which we invite you, with us, to oppose.

First, there are the extreme left secularists ensconced in the BBC, much of the media, and large parts of the schools’ indoctrination and learning system. They do not have an ounce of respect for your views, rights and interests and they all seem to major on communication-blocking words, to stop you expressing yourself, or letting others know how you really do feel about your faith and what, after all, is your country. This is usually known as “political correctness” and, far from being a joke, it is, as Peter Hitchens has said, a menace to freedom of thought and speech. We all know the kinds of unkind words they use to try to stop ALL of us speaking our minds: racism, little Englander, xenophobia, Islamophobia, sexism, homophobia, hate crime and so on. Well, we in the Christian Council of Britain are going to provide a waste paper bin to put these speech-blocking words into, as far as we are concerned, and a mirror, as far as they are concerned, to reflect them back upon those who most use them. They are the ones who have a phobia – about God, the true God, and real Christianity. They also have a phobia about Britain and all things British. The Christian Council wants to take up these issues and put these powers and persons where they ought to be; which is not in charge of our country or of God’s Church.

Second, many of the clergy, especially the higher ones, seem to be ordained by anything but God, and seem to be concerned with everything but real, vital, powerful and genuine Christianity. Women in the pastoral office? No way – that is unbiblical! Abortion on demand and easy divorce? Isn’t that a Holocaust and the undermining of wedlock and family, as the major building-block of both Church and Society? Homosexual rights... ...but if something is wrong can you really have a right to it? These are just to give a few samples of the issues we, and hopefully you, feel strongly about and intend, God being our helper (for no one else will), to punch above our weight on.

Many clergy seem unable to preach the glad tidings of our great God or His wondrous intervention into the lives of sinful men and women. Instead they want to make themselves more “relevant,” to those in need of help, by becoming more helpless themselves, and more hopeless than those they would help. We have had the “modernisation” programme in the Church. Get rid of the great evangelical liturgy, where one was used, and/or the powerfulKing James Authorized Version of the Holy Bible. As a result, the Church has become less relevant to sinners, and to all and sundry, whilst darker religions now stalk the land.

One of those darker religious forces is that of the false prophet, Karl Marx. How he is ruling from his grave in political correctness and the new rage against God which Mr Peter Hitchens has tabulated in a new book of that title. Certainly the unintelligent views of Professor Hawkins and Dawkins - on natural science and its relationship to the existence, or otherwise, of God - need to be challenged by the CCoB and will be challenged by us; indeed, they have so already. And we would heartily invite you to join us in this fray against, not science, but nonsense. It is surprising how many people are taken in by it. But there is also an even darker faith which is stalking our streets in gangs of teenage thugs, or in terrorist cells of several people who were maybe born here but who hate their hosts because they see us as infidels. They are only doing as their prophet did, but that is no reason why we should let them. Toleration has its limits at the threat of, or use, of violence. That is known as self-defence. It is the duty of Government to defend its people, their country and their society; and the Governments that we have had since the war have tended not to defend us in regard to this new Islamic threat from the bigoted false prophet, who, during his lifetime was a killer, a bandit and a paedophile. Dave Hunt, from America, has asked people to give an example, just one example, of where Islam has brought peace. No one has come up with an answer.

We are open to all nationalities and, as well as Christians who confess the Trinity, we are also open to people who value Christianity as our heritage – the best heritage we can ever have, and the only sure defence and shield against evil. We have been intimately involved in the preservation of freedom of speech, person, property and religion; and will continue to be so. If you are a Christian, and especially if you are a British Christian or a pro-British Christian, we heartily invite you to join the Christian Council. We will soon be taking our programme to the streets to put Christianity and Christian views and values where they should be: at the heart of our Nation and of our society.
